This video of an Ohio police officer terrorizing a family after a traffic stop is just crazy:
A traffic stop in Toledo, Ohio, went way further than anyone expected.
Aaron Tatkowski, the father of the family in the video, told Toledo News Now that he spent the Sunday with his family. When he came home, he said his daughter-in-law had been pulled over by a police officer. According to police reports, she was cited for a license violation.
Tatkowski told Toledo News Now that he didn’t like the way the police officer was speaking to his daughter-in-law and told him so.
“He hollered for me to get back in my truck, so I got back in my truck,” Tatkowski said. “Next thing you know, I’m yanked out of the truck and it made my girlfriend say a few things. He yanked her out of the truck.”
The rest is caught on cellphone video, and opens with Tatkowski, his girlfriend, his daughter-in-law and his 14-year-old son lying on the ground next to a pick up truck.
Warning, the video contains graphic language.
Police reports seen by Toledo News Now say the police officer in the video drew his handgun and his Taser when commands he was issuing were not being followed.
“It was totally uncalled for, the way [the officer] was using force on people,” Jim Stechschulte, a witness, though unclear if he was filming the video, told the news organization. “I’m sorry to say that, but that’s the way it is and if they don’t like it, so be it.”
According to The Toledo Blade, the officer is Eric Hart and is on administrative leave while the video is being investigated.
“He’s not in trouble, but to keep things aboveboard, we put him on administrative leave until an internal investigation is fully complete,” the chief said. “I’m not saying he did anything wrong, but we’re trying to show we’re not trying to sweep this under the rug or cover it up.”
