Bullying report won’t be delayed: minister

REGINA – Saskatchewan Education Minister Don Morgan says the government is trying to fast track an anti-bullying report.

Morgan suggested last Thursday that the report would probably be released during anti-bullying week, which runs from Nov. 17 to Nov. 22.

He now says it will be released as soon as possible because people are anxious to see the findings.

“Last week I asked them to try and bring it forward and do it earlier. They’re nearly finished now,” said Morgan.

The report is being worked on by Saskatoon MLA Jennifer Campeau, who has been tasked with holding public consultations and looking at anti-bullying strategies.

Morgan says this report will no longer suggest a legislation change, but instead a comprehensive program. He said it will include a sensitizing process for parents and teachers to better understand and recognize when a young person is in trouble. He also promised the program will…
