Gun casualties soaring among American kids: Study

Children in the United States are being killed and maimed by guns in record numbers, according to a shocking new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
The AAP said more than 7,500 children are hospitalized every year for gunshot wounds with 500 of them ending up in the morgue.
“Handguns account for the majority of childhood gunshot wounds, and this number appears to be increasing over the last decade,” study author Dr. Arin L. Madenci told CNN.
“Further, states with higher percentages of household firearm ownership also tended to have higher proportions of childhood gunshot wounds, especially those occurring in the home.”
A brutal debate is currently raging in the United States between gun control advocates, horrified by an explosion of killings and the deeply entrenched, pro-gun National Rifle Association.
