On Tuesday, not long before Toronto Mayor Rob Ford confirmed that he has indeed smoked crack, and more alarmingly that he routinely suffers from “drunken stupors,” provincial opposition leader Tim Hudak was asked about Rob’s brother Doug’s long-discussed candidacy for the Progressive Conservatives. Mr. Hudak proclaimed the status quo, neither ruling it out nor pouring any cold water on it.
One might sympathize with the bad timing, except that the timing had already been bad. Just that morning, Doug Ford had demanded the Police Chief of North America’s fourth-largest city step down because he had confirmed reported details of the Mayor’s “crack video.” It was all a political vendetta, Doug said, flapping his gums like an outboard motor.
